Firm Profile

Camden, Sumter, Lexington, Newberry, Orangeburg, Columbia, Aiken SC.

H. Patterson McWhirter is a Waterboro, South Carolina native, who graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1973, establishing the firm of Hunter & McWhirter with James Earl Hunter. This firm began Mr. McWhirter's commitment to protecting the rights of victims as it emphasized personal injury law. To strengthen his advocacy for injury victims, Mr McWhirter won admittance to practice by the Supreme Court of the State of South Caroline, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, and the United States Court of Appeals.

In 1986, Mr. McWhirter formed the firm that was to become McWhirter, Bellinger & Associates, and was joined in 1989 by his son and Garland Pearson McWhirter and Thomas P. Bellinger. Building on a series of significant victories for its clients, McWhirter, Bellinger & Associates has grown to seven offices in seven counties, and employs 12 total attorneys and more than 50 staff members.

Our product liability lawyers in South Carolina are dedicated to the communities of South Carolina, and in addition to representing injury victims like those affected by the Stryker hip replacement recall we volunteer our time to speak at community groups, school career days, and Pro Bono Legal clinics. We serve as judges for student mock trials and sponsor high school athletics, drama performances, and music concerts. We have a regular Salvation Army bell-ringing team and participate in the Salvation Army Mentoring Program.
